Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce (HJCC) members and guests on July 10, 2010 continued their 110th Anniversary celebration by honoring the 6th Annual Generational Award recipient, Occidental Underwriters of Hawaii, Ltd. and the Kagawa family along with five Outstanding Members of the Year. Immediate Past Chair Sidney Hamada thanked his administration, committee members, volunteers, and the HJCC staff for their efforts in making FY2010 a success. The 2010 Outstanding Members of the Year, Roy Amemiya Jr., Scott
Higa, Arnold Hirotsu, Lynette Lo Tom and Michael Nomura all contributed significantly
to HJCC’s mission statement of providing its members with the leadership and organization to promote Hawaii’s business and economic development. Congratulations were also given to the newly elected Officers, Directors and Committee Chairs. Following the installation
of Officers and Directors by HJCC’s President Emeritus Ron Ushijima, HJCC Chairman Wayne Kato called the first General Membership meeting of the year to order and outlined his administration’s agenda of continuing to focus on membership value and fiscal stability
through member participation, beneficial programs, and fostering relationships with the Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii, Honolulu Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce, Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii and the Nippon Club. The 6th Annual Generational Award recipient, Occidental Underwriters of Hawaii, Ltd. and the Kagawa family were honored in a moving documentary produced by Joanne Ninomiya of JN Productions.
The evening ended with a Kanpai from the guests to the Chamber by Consul General
Kamo and Kanpai from the Chamber to the guests by HJCC Past Chair Ben Fukumoto. Closing the evening’s program with a Chamber tradition, tejime, was a special guest from the Fukui Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Vice Chair Taketoshi Katsuki.
